Chembra Peak Trek
For adventure seekers and trekking enthusiasts, the Chembra Peak Trek in Wayanad, Kerala, is an exhilarating challenge. Standing at 2,100 meters (6,890 feet) above sea level, Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad and offers breathtaking panoramic views of lush green valleys, mist-covered hills, and distant waterfalls.
The trek begins at the foothills near Meppadi and takes around 3 to 4 hours to reach the top, depending on fitness levels. The trail winds through dense forests, sprawling tea plantations, and rolling grasslands, making it a scenic yet moderately challenging ascent. One of the highlights of the trek is the heart-shaped lake (Hridaya Saras), located midway, believed to be perennial and often shrouded in mist, adding to its mystique.
At the summit, trekkers are rewarded with stunning views of the Western Ghats, a sight that makes the climb well worth the effort. The cool mountain breeze and serene surroundings make it an ideal spot to relax and soak in nature’s beauty. The trek is regulated by the forest department to preserve the ecosystem, and visitors are required to obtain permits before embarking on the journey.

Reaching the falls involves a short yet scenic trek of about 2 km, passing through lush green coffee plantations and thick forest trails. The trek is relatively easy and well-maintained, allowing visitors of all ages to enjoy the journey.
